The iPhone7, iPhone 7 Plus and even an iPhone Pro will most likely be unveiled this September. Untill then we’ll have to subsist on leaks and rumors and this phone might not be totally different from iPhones currently on market but will lack some features, as rumored.
No Headphone Jack: The most controversial rumor about the next round of iPhones is that Apple will remove the phone’s Headphone Jack. While nobody is sure what this iPhone will look like, many leaks have suggested that this phone will not have a headphone jack, forcing users to buy Bluetooth connected headphones, buy an adapter to plug their headphones into the iPhone’s lightning port or buy headphones that plug directly into the lightning port. It would be an irritating change. There has been some doubt as to whether this rumor is true, though. Lightning-cable to headphone adapters already exist, but are uncommon. It’s unclear if the adapter would come with the iPhone7 or if you’d have to buy it separately.
Another Speaker Grill: The leaks show an iPhone with speaker holes on both sides of the iPhone’s bottom instead of just the right side. There are speaker holes where the headphone jack once was, giving more credibility to the rumor that the headphone jack is going away.
New Color: The iPhone 7 may be available in the same four colors as the iPhone 6s: silver, space gray, gold, and rose gold. That’s according to a leaked image from MacityNet, which shows four reported “dummy” iPhones. There have been rumors that Apple would introduce a new color this time around, a dark blue.
A dual-lens camera would take iPhone photography to a whole new level.Unfortunately, this rumor is one of the least reliable — the iPhone may or may not have a dual-lens camera. If it does, it would likely just be on the iPhone 7 Plus, the larger of the two phones. While there have been multiple photos “leaked,” some have argued that the technology necessary for a dual-lens camera isn’t ready. Some smartphones already have dual-lens cameras, and this type of camera allows for both wide-angle and zoom shots.
So far, rumors also indicate that the next iPhone will be water-resistant, feature liquid metal, eliminate antenna lines and also that it could sport a smart connector.
Leaks reveal there is pre-order availability on September 9 — a Friday — lines up with a launch in the week of September 12. We’re inching really close to that date, which means we won’t have to wait long until Apple begins to send out event invites.
